Northwest Trek (Thursday)

Thursday while we were in Washington visiting family we went to the Northwest Trek, its basically an outdoor zoo where you take a tram ride to see all the a lot of the animals out in their normal habitat. We got some great pictures and it was a lot of fun. The first thing we came across was a banana slug, as you can tell from the expressions on the faces of the kids that they were not quite sure what to think of it. Brianne's expression was a crack up.

Then it was off on the tram where we saw a variety of animals such as caribou, and elk, deer etc. one of them decided to walk in front of the tram and well slowed us down a bit, I was able to lean to get a shot of it out the window.

There were other animals that were in various cages such as the bald eagle's they had been wounded and could no longer fly so this is a safe environment for them. We also saw several owls that could no longer fly as well. It was kinda neat since you were able to get pretty up close and check them out with out them flying away. The kids loved it. Once again Alex and Andrew were little buddies and had a great time together. It was a bit on the wet and cold side but we all survived just fine.

We did see a possum getting fed, Brianne went on to tell the worker how she had one in her yard and it had babies she just kept talking and talking, it was normal Brianne. We all got a good laugh about it. Afterward we went to a park to do a little geo cashing by Jeff and Shannon's house, Megan and Andrew loved it and the kids had a great time. Then it was more play time at the park. It was a great way for them to let out some pent up energy. I wish we had more time to spend together but I guess that's what its like living a state apart.
