Christmas 2012 With the Family

Ok so I totally know that it's September and all, however I have been totally behind on my blog so I finally decided to sit down and get caught up for the past 9 months. So let's travel back to Christmas break last year.  We went to my parents house down in El Centro.  After a long 9 hour drive we got there and started to have a great time.  We were actually there for 2 weeks so there was a lot of stuff going on.  I had to get Lily in one of her Christmas dresses, she is such a cutie!!

One great ting about this Christmas was that all my brothers and sisters were going to be there, this hasn't happened in a long time.  The cousins were quite glad to get together so we headed to a park to have a little fun!  Randy's family arrived first so my kids were quite happy to hang out with Shauna, Audry and Donovan.

After much fun it was hang out time, to our surprise we received a notice that we needed to make sure that nobody parked on the street since the neighborhood does an annual lanterns of light thing.  We didn't quite know what to expect as they came around and put these bags all over the neighborhood.  But as the sun finally set and all the candles were lit it was nice to go outside and check it out.  It was actually quite cool.  Dan worked really hard with all the settings on the camera to get the shots just right. I think they turned out great!

This was all on Christmas eve and I have to say Alex was quite excited this year to be "Santa's Helper" After the kids set out the milk and cookies it was off to bed for some much needed rest!!
Christmas morning was great!  My kids were so excited to get their presents between new pillow pets from Santa for all of them they loved it!

I had to get a few pics of the rest of the family, Cameron was quite excited about all his gifts from my parents as well as the rest of my siblings.

The kids all had a great time it was a bit crazy since we took all their presents with us as well, I actually had some of them just shipped there it was easy, However I didn't stop to think that getting it all home would be a bit of a problem.  Good thing April was there so we packed up her car to send a lot of it home with her.
Lily loved her horse (and she still does) she was such a cutie and had lots of fun opening her presents.
Alex did get some cool skateboard stuff and has had tons of fun learning to ride.  To all of our surprise my brother Scott and his family arrived on Christmas morning after we opened all our presents and it was a surprise since we didn't expect him for a few days.  We had a great time hanging out and having fun.  One of our activities was a trip to the bowling alley.  Its a great bowling alley with and arcade, billiards, bowling of course and other fun activities.  However this time was just a time to bowl.  We all had a great time bowling it was a lot of fun.

Lily even enjoyed herself just walking around hanging out with everyone.

Bowling and pizza it doesnt' get much better than that.  I great fun family activity! We had a great time with family making some great memories! Its always good when everyone can get together, lets just hope it doesn't take another 6 or 7 years!
One last picture to end with was me with my brother's Randy and Scott and our 3 boys.  So here is the story behind the picture.  Randy is the oldest and I'm second and Scott is third, Randy's first child is a boy, my second child is a boy and Scott's third child is a boy.  So there we are in a row with our firsts, seconds, and thirds.  These are also the only 3 boy grandchildren all the rest are girls.  Too funny now that I think about it.  Christmas was great and I am so glad to have the memories to go along with it and to finally get around to blogging about it!

Thanksgiving 2012 Gingerbread houses and decorating the tree!

So more Thanksgiving fun, we had our wonderful traditional thanksgiving dinner with all the yummy goodness that there is, from the Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls oh the list just goes on and on, and it was a great time we all talked about the things that we are most thankful for and I was really impressed with Brianne who was so very thankful for Jesus for the sacrifice that He made for all of us.  It was really good to know that she was really thinking and we didn't even prompt her to say anything but it was nice since it really makes you stop and think.  We are all also really grateful that my dad is doing better from his surgery and we are all hoping for an super recovery.  Now after all that goodness it wouldn't be a traditional thanksgiving with Kim if we didn't do the gingerbread houses.  We were able to find a package that had mini houses so it was more like a little village and all the kids got to do their own.  The kids all had a great time, even the big ones.

Waiting for the frosting and a little help from mom.

Lily got into the action a little bit, I think she just wanted the candy!
Drying time is always the hardest time to wait.
Ok so here they all are fun times it was great and I am so glad that they all had fun.
Taylor had quite the imagination this time, she has been into watching NCIS and loves it so she made her house into a crime scene, go figure and the story behind it was funny!  I love her imagination. Now that we have been having so much fun visiting and all we thought it would be fun since we are coming for Christmas and going to spend a few weeks in El Centro that we were not going to put up our own tree, so my mom had the great idea that we would get the tree and the kids could decorate it a few days after Thanksgiving.  It was fun and the kids had a good time even Lily got into the action.

Lets be real I think she really just wanted to play with the ornaments , but that's ok all in all it was a great visit and we had a lot of fun.  And isn't that what Thanksgiving is really all about being with family and being thankful for what you have.
